Federal AutoMatch 22LR 40 Grains, 1200fps Ammo

Federal AutoMatch 22LR 40 grain ammo. This ammo has a muzzle velocity of 1200fps and 130 ft/lbs of energy at the muzzle. At 50 yards it’s still traveling at 1080fps with 105ft/lbs of energy.

I felt for practice ammo this ammo was quite average. I used to use this a lot and I will probably use this less now that I’ve actually tested it and measured everything. It's not bad for the price but I feel like there are better ammos out there for practice than the Federal AutoMatch.

We had 12 flyers which puts it in the average category. So the precision of the ammo is at about a 76% build quality. So about every 4th time you fire a shot you’re going to find yourself having a flyer. The groupings were about 3 1/8” wide by 2 1/8” high. If you take out the flyers we're looking at 1 7/8” wide by 1 ¾” top to bottom. So not too bad overall if you take out the flyers.

All in all it’s a decent practice ammo I think if you can get these on sale it’s probably worth it but when they’re not on sale I would probably say no.
