Aguila 22LR Subsonic Solid Point 40 Grains, 1025fps - Ammo Box Right Side

The Aguila 22LR Subsonic bullet weighs 40 grains and has a muzzle velocity of 1025fps with 93ft/lbs of energy. At 100 yards this ammo is still flying at 911fps and has 74ft/lbs of energy. The bullet is a lead round nose solid point, recommended for target, range and small game.

The bullets were tested at 50ft or 16.67 yards, using 50 rounds of ammo. The gun used was the Ruger Mark IV Competition with a 6.88” barrel. It has a 1:16” RH twist and a 3.5lb trigger pull.

In comparison to the High Velocity and Standard velocity ammo, I would say this ranks third. Standard Velocity was the best and High Velocity ranking second. This bullet does have less felt recoil given the lower velocity than the others and is much quieter as well. Which would make it better for hunting. I did error a few times at the top and did not count those, as those few shots were in fact me being off target and not the bullet. The groupings were as follows, including flyers it was 2 1/2 inches wide by 2 7/8ths inches high. I had 12 flyers giving this bullet a 76% precision build rating which mean 1 out of every 4 shots is going to be a flyer. Once you take the flyers out the grouping is now 1 1/2 inches wide by 1 7/8ths inches high.

All in all I felt this bullet was pretty good, I don’t think I would recommend it for your practice ammo though. Hunting ammo yes, practice ammo no. I would bet paired with a silencer this ammo would be extremely quite as well adding to its value while out in the field. Even if you get a flyer you are looking at a max of it being off by 1 inch with a handgun at 50ft. Using a rifle it is going to take some of that away and I am sure it would be even more accurate when using a rifle since this really is hunting ammo.
